RCDS works to empower tribal and vulnerable communities through health, livelihood, environmental protection, and inclusive community development in Manipur.

Rural Community Development Society (RCDS) is a secular, community-based organization working with the most vulnerable sections of society, especially tribal communities, across four districts of Manipur. Over the past three years, RCDS has been committed to improving the socio-economic conditions of marginalized communities regardless of religion, caste, creed, sex, gender, or tribal identity. The organization works towards ensuring food security, improving purchasing power, promoting health and justice, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural communities. RCDS believes in inclusive development through community participation, environmental sustainability, and capacity building. RCDS is currently implementing a three-year livelihood program (2025–2028) in partnership with Azim Premji Foundation. Under this initiative, improved methods of GI-tagged Khasi orange cultivation are being promoted in Longjang Village of Noney District, benefiting the first batch of 50 farmers. The organization is also actively promoting banana cultivation activities in Khoupum Block, Noney District. Apart from livelihood initiatives, RCDS conducts career counselling programs for students of Classes 8–12 across three districts of Manipur and provides continuous follow-up support to guide students towards better educational and career opportunities. Capacity building of staff members and farmers is another important focus area of the organization. At present, RCDS is actively working in Longjang (Thangal) Village of Khoupum Block in Noney District and continues to strengthen community resilience through agriculture, environmental sustainability, and community development programs.
